Memories

Persistent guidance, preferences, and workspace-specific context that carry into future runs.

What Are Memories?

Memories are persistent guidance. They help agents remember your preferences, context, and recurring instructions over time and workspaces so you never have to repeat yourself.

They are especially useful for workspace-specific context, company conventions, and durable preferences that should be implemented across work sessions.

Example Memories

Good memories include preferred formatting style, three-letter acronyms, and standing project context.

Examples:

  • Prefer concise summaries with the conclusion first.
  • Use dark blue header rows with white text in tables.
  • IRR means Internal Rate of Return.
  • Always include a line above and below summation values.

The agent will also contribute memories based on observed usage patterns.

Using Memories

Memories automatically feed into future runs as durable context, complementing prompts that help shape the request. Use memories for rules you want to keep; use the prompt for instructions that are only relevant right now. Memories do not need to be explicitly referenced because the agent always has them in mind.
